Let’s take a quick look at Real Estate Sales in the popular

West Loop Chicago neighborhood. This report is based on

sales data from the MRED MLS system. It is based on

closed transactions from JAN-01-2011 through NOV-13-2011.

West Loop Chicago Real Estate - 2011 YTD Sales

CONDO SALES ANALYSIS:

1) 1 bedroom: 137 properties sold at a median price of $207,000.

2) 2 bedrooms: 216 properties sold at a median price of $302,500.

3) 3 bedrooms: 75 properties sold at a median price of $510,000.

4) 4 bedrooms: 5 properties sold at a median price of $610,000.

This should give you a good idea of current market values in the

West Loop. If you are thinking about buying or selling real

A new Target store is coming to the West Loop

A new Target store is coming to the West Loop

A new Target store is under development near Racine and Jackson.
They have broken ground, and I am guessing this store will be ready
by the Spring of 2012.

New Target Store coming to the West Loop

Target already has a store in the South Loop near Clark and Roosevelt.
But, this new West Loop store will give local residents more options
for shopping.

Target should get a lot of business because there aren’t many shopping
choices in the immediate area. I usually go down to the Jewel store on
Ashland and Roosevelt. But, those Jewel lines can get pretty long.
Also, I find that Target usually has better prices than Jewel.
The only downside is that it may increase traffic congestion in the area.
Van Buren is already jam packed during Rush Hour. But, overall this
store should be good for the area.

There is a new Wal-Mart Grocery Store in the West Loop.
This is actually the first Wal-Mart Neighborhood Grocery Store in Illinois.
It is in the Presidential Towers complex near Monroe and Clinton.
The store boasts a wide selection and the prices should be pretty good.

It is about 1400 West. I love their sign in the window

About 1 1/2 miles west of downtown Chicago, you will
find a statue of the legendary Michael Jordan.

It is at the United Center, which is home to the world
champion Chicago Bulls and Blackhawks.

Michael Jordan may be the most popular basketball
player ever. His statue will make sure no one ever
forgets his legacy with the Chicago Bulls.
I took a couple of pictures last weekend.

Another nice park in the West Loop is at Adams and Sangamon.
It is named the Mary Bartelme Park. It is named after the first
woman judge in Illinois.
But it’s also known as simply the Adams and Sangamon Park.
This park sits on 1.4 acres of land. It is a great place to bring
the kids. It is also a nice park for dogs. It actually has a
separate exercise area for dogs.
Five stainless steel fountain gates greet you at the northwest entry.
I took a few pictures the last time I was there.

Skinner Park is the biggest park in the West Loop neighborhood.
It is near 1300 W Adams. It is behind the Whitney Young High School.
This park has a playground for the kids. There are also a couple of
baseball fields, basketball courts, and tennis courts.

The Arrigo Park is on Chicago’s near West Side.
It is a little south of what most would consider to
be the West Loop neighborhood.
It is also close to the Tri-Taylor neighborhood and UIC.

It is near Loomis and Polk street (801 S. Loomis St.)
This park has been around since the late 1800s.
It has a great statue of Christopher Columbus.
This statue made its first appearance in the 1893
World’s Columbian Exposition.
